BBQ, Othello, and Valentine's Day

My husband loves me. No question. He had my favorite BBQ-- Corky's-- flown in from Memphis for lunch today. This is the best BBQ ever. I had a beef brisket sandwich, a pulled pork sandwich, fudge pie, and Code Red for lunch. What a great Valentine's Day!

For whatevers its worth, we decided that Othello would not be a good theatrical choice for Valentine's Day.

Gran would probably argue with you as to which is the best Memphis BBQ. I think you have heard her talk about her favorite joint--Leonard's BBQ. Growing up in northern Mississippi so close to Memphis, this was one of her favorite places as a teenager and young adult. There was no good BBQ in the many places she lived after marrying Grandaddy. Peru, Indiana; Holyoke, Massachusetts and St. Johns, Newfoundland, all had their own specialties, especially St. Johns. Unfortunately BBQ was not on the menu. She has come to have a few favorite BBQ restaurants here in Mobile. Ryan, you did a great job. What a surprise for Heather!

Yeah-- I almost wrote that Corky's was Gran's favorite, but then I wasn't sure. Is Leonards's BBQ still around?
