The Suffering Elephant

Despite the unanimous votes for The Holy Elephant here at Wineskins, I've decided to tackle The Suffering Elephant. Votes between here, zonegathering.com, facebook, Twitter, and emails I've received were pretty evenly split, and the suffering elephant is very different from some of the other ones we've chosen.

Can't say I'm looking forward to it, but I think it's something we need to address. How do you respond when your circumstances contradict the character and promise of God?

Powerful message this weekend, Pastor Heather, on "The Suffering Elephant" ... and then that LSU 51-21 loss on Saturday night to the Florida Gators: "Geaux Scoreboard!" You were the right pastor of the weekend to preach on what it means "to suffer" :-)

Pastor Heather-
My wife and I were at Union Station Sunday for the 9am. We were former attenders, then moved to Atlanta and happened to be in town for the weekend for a little soccer, redskins and NCC. I just wanted to say that I really enjoied hering you speak and felt that you gave me words for my son. He is 15 and recently lost a friend to a tragic car accident. This was a Christian young man, and Nathan's first words to me were why do bad things happen to good people. I was able to share the scriptures you spoke with us about with him. Anyway, just wanted to say a former member who came back as a visitor was so happy he dropped by.
