Wonder and Worship

Thomas Carlyle said, "Wonder is the basis of worship."

I find that fascinating. In Acts 2, we read that the disciples were overwhelmed by a "deep sense of awe" at the work of the Holy Spirit among them." Do I live in a state of awe and wonder at the work of the Holy Spirit around me? Perhaps I do not worship as I should because I don't put myself in the places where God is working enough and I don't pause long enough to see Him.

I think we are always in a place to see where God is working .. the great question is whether we stop to notice it. The working doesn't have to be in people ... it can be in nature. For example, Mount Rainier is literally a few hours from us and on a clear day when the "mountain is out" it's like WHAM, there it is. (I drive by this point on the military base all the time... http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/620689.jpg ... sometimes it looks like that, sometimes there is nothing but clouds).
It is my choice whether I stop in absolute wonder and awe and think "holy cow. God MADE that!"
Worship is a choice.
